The Saints are through to the semi final of ‘The Hay Senior Cup’ after a 4-1 win over Ewyas Harold FC.
‘Harold’ went ahead early in the game with a good strike from 16 yards out giving keeper Jordan Bailey no chance.
Within minutes we were level, winger Tom Landon cut in from the right, beat two men before shooting from 20 yards, his shot took a deflection wrong footing ‘Harold’s’ keeper. (1-1)
Striker Matty Tong made it 2-1 in the 28th minute, Harry Gilbert won a header which found the striker who calmly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper. 2-1

Winger Darren Horrigan who was a thorn in the visitors side all night won a header at the back post which captain Chris Preece then out jumped the keeper and his looping header dropped into the back of the net 3-1.
The visiting keeper made a brilliant save from a Callum Maddy pile driver but was hapless to stop Maddy’s volley late in the game which saw us through to the semi final.

A good performance, I felt we looked the better team for most of the game except for a 15 minute spell when the visitors scored. Our defence was excellent all night, I don’t remember our keeper having to make too many saves considering they had three quick lads up top who we all know very well.
