Another Away Win.

The Saints won 0-3 at Machynlleth FC today.

Jack Biggs put us ahead at the break, a Brendan Hackett free kick on the hour doubled the lead and with fifteen to go a ‘Mach’ player put through his own net under pressure from Tom Landon which sealed the win.

Chris Preece and Adam Finn

We started slow in the opening ten minutes but kept ‘Mach’ from any scoring chances. Once we settled we started knocking the ball around and taking control of the game. Our first chance came from a Brendan Hackett corner, Jack Biggs just headed wide. The next chance again fell to Biggs, youngster Noah Cripps making his first team debut threaded a lovely ball  in between the two centre backs, Biggs turned and shot just over.

The breakthrough came in the 40th after Tom James won a ball in the middle and passed to Hackett he danced through a couple of challenges before passing to Biggs who again turned and hit a powerful shot past the replacement ‘Mach’ keeper. (0-1).

We stood off for some reason in the five minutes leading up to half time and ‘Mach’ put us under a bit of pressure but our back four were outstanding again with James protecting just in front of them.

Ht 0-1

The second half was our best performance of the season to date, we kept the ball throughout most of the 45 minutes limiting ‘Mach’ to one chance in the 84th minute which was a diving header that went wide.

Brendan Hackett scored a brilliant trade mark free kick from 30 yards out to put us 0-2 ahead on the hour and striker Tom Landon chased a lost cause which caused panic in the ‘Mach’ defence resulting in an own goal seeing us go 0-3 up after 73 minutes.

We saw the game out by keeping the ball well throughout the team.

Ft 0-3

A great performance considering the issues before we left (Long story). Well done to Noah Cripps who didn’t put a foot wrong on debut, another 17 year Griff Thomas again played very well in the back four.

Tough to pick a man of the match after a great team performance but he’s made it three in a row as it goes to Jack Biggs just pipping Tom James and skipper Adam Finn. Every player put in a shift today making it pleasure to watch.
