Saints Out of League Cup

The Saints are out of ‘The E.R. Jenkins League Cup after losing 4-2 in a penalty shoot out. The game finished 3-3 after extra time.

Abermule took a third minute lead through Jack Weaver which was cancelled out in the 16th minute when Callum Maddy headed in from a Brendan Hackett corner.

Youngster Weaver regained the lead for the visitors which saw them go in 1-2 up at the break.

Ht 1-2

The second period saw us get on top and on the hour Jack Biggs headed in another Brendan Hackett corner to bring us back level at 2-2.

Although both teams looked for a winner in the 90 minutes neither could add to their tally so the game went into extra time.

Ft 2-2

We went ahead for the first time in the match in the opening period of extra time, a great assist by Hackett resulted in Biggs heading in our third which put us 3-2 ahead.

Substitute Nick Mumby brought back parity to the game when he added ‘Mulers’ third making the score 3-3 which is how it ended after 120 minutes of play.

As we all know penalties are a lottery but to the visitors credit they tucked theirs away while we didn’t, Abermule winning 4-2 after pens.

The reserves side which was depleted due to unavailability lost heavily against Llanidloes Reserves 12-1. Kyle Harding with our goal.

Veteran Paul ‘Squit’ Williams netted a brace of own goals just missing out on his hat-trick I’ve been informed!
