Aberystwyth Uni FC 0 Saints 7

Goalscorers –

Greg Preece (5)

Jack Biggs (1)

Jack Cook (1)

We were 0-3 up within the opening quarter of an hour, another goal in the 33rd minute saw us go in 0-4 at half time.

We added another three goals in the second period.

The Saint’s were keen to make amends for dropping points in the game the previous Saturday and started very brightly. They were on the attack from the off and found themselves 0-3 up in 15 mins with two goals from Greg Preece who twice burnt the defence for pace and finished clinically and a header from Jack Biggs off a Brendan Hackett cross. There were more chances to extend the lead with Aber Uni also having a few attempts of their own but the attacks were dealt with very well by 16 year old keeper Ben Warn who made his first team debut. Greg Preece did extend the lead for the visitors and grab his hat-trick before the break with another well taken goal slotting the ball calmly past the keeper. HT 0-4.

The second half was mainly the same with the Saint’s in control. Preece grabbed his fourth of the game when latching onto a throughball and knocking it past the outcoming keeper. He then grabbed his fifth when latching onto a superb 45 yard pass from substitute Richard Meredith and Jack Cook finished the scoring with his first goal for the first team, tapping in from a Brendan Hackett cross. FT 0-7.

It was a superb response following the draw against Presteigne. The players were keen to all make amends and put in a very strong team display. It was also very pleasing to see 16 year old goalkeeper keep a clean sheet on debut and 18 year old jack Cook get his first goal.

Man of the match Greg Preece after his five goal haul.
