Saints Bow Out of CWFA Cup

The Saints lost 1-0 in a very tight game against Builth Wells FC in ‘The Central Wales Cup’

The first half saw us have the better chances, Greg Preece going close after strike partner Matty Tong whipped a ball in from the left.

Tong should of done better when put through by Preece but pulled his shot just wide.

Up the other end the hosts had a couple of penalty shouts waved away. Tom Bevan also pulled off a great save after getting caught wrong footed.

Ht 0-0

Builth started stronger in the second half but some resolute defending by ‘The Saints’ kept the Builth front three at bay.

A good move down the right saw Preece get free of his marker, his cross found Tong who blasted over from ten yards out.

A loose ball was pounced on by a Builth player whose shot went through defender Frazier McNally’s legs and beat the stranded Bevan to give the hosts the lead in the 84th minute.

We thought we had scored the equaliser in the 88th minute but Tong’s goal was ruled out for a foul on Lee James after being put through by the hard working Brendan Hackett.

Ft 1-0

A good performance considering several players weremissing, I thought our back three did very well againt a very experienced front three from Builth. We edged the first half and Builth the second in a tight game of very view chances.
