Spar Mid Wales League Cup Semi Final Tuesday 23rd March 7:30pm : Saints v Bow Street to be Played at Rhayader

The Saints get the opportunity to avenge the 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bow Street away last Saturday. Although the first half last saturday showed that we can compete in this league the second half threw up some basic mistakes that showed that there is no room for error, especially against the top sides.

This semi final is a mixed blessing, it gives us a chance to show what we are made of, but, it also distracts us from the real job of gaining points in the league.

The run of injuries to the Saints players was extended in the pre match warm up as Steve Goodwin turned an ankle and now has ligament damage. Gareth Jenkins suffered a groin injury and limped of after an hour and Kevin Jones who took an elbow in the face during last Wednesdays game is in some pain and requires emergency dental work with antibiotic cover. It was hoped that centre back Alec Winstone from the reserves would step up but he himself suffered a hamstring injury on Saturday and is now very doubtful. The full list of injuries are: Gav Williams, Steve Goodwin, Jake Atkinson, Sam Mayglothling, Sam Powell, Ben Bevan, Gareth Jenkins, Alec Winstone. Kevin Jones and Tom Weaver are awaiting  late fitness tests.

On a positive note, Becksie is back following his work committment and  Mike Havard (Mr Hay St Mary’s) has made himself available now that the Hereford Saints have finished their campaign. Sam Bradley and Lloyd Holland have been called up to the first team squad.

The squad for Tuesday is as follows and players should meet at the saints Bar for 5:30: Steven Price, Phil Davies (C), Josh Davies, Stu Davies, Wes Evans, Chris Preece, Dan Jones, Mike Havard, Sam Bradley, Lloyd Holland, Josh Wisniewski, Kevin Jones, Tom Weaver, Gareth Jenkins, Alec Winstone.
