The Saints retained ‘The Hay Senior Cup’ after a 3-2 extra time win over Shobdon FC.
Shobdon took the lead through a well worked goal which Harry Bowen headed in at the back post 0-1.
The Saints equalised on 22 minutes, Greg Preece played a lovely through ball to strike partner Matty Tong who finished from 16 yards out. (1-1).
The rest of the half was end to end with both sides having chances.
Ht 1-1
The second half saw The Saints get on top but Shobdon defended well. It was the visitors who went back in the lead after a shot from the winger saw keeper Tom Bevan get a hand to it but the ball found the back of the net. (1-2)
With just three minutes to go midfielder Jack Evans scored the equaliser from 10 yards out after a lot of pressure in the last few minutes.
Ft 2-2
The winner came in the first half of extra time, Harry Hooper pressed high up the pitch and won the ball off the full back, he burst into the box and shot which the keeper got a had to only for Matty Tong to slide in at the back post and score.
‘The Dons’ tried to get back in the game but if anything it was ‘The Saints’ who looked more likely to score another.

Match sponsor Andrew Harris chose Jack Evans as his man of the match. Jack was excellent the last 20 minutes and in extra time. A special mention to 18 year Liam McNally who filled in at centre back and had a top class game throughout.
