Saints Vs Waterloo Rovers

SAINTS 1-5 WATERLOO ROVERS
A much-depleted Saints side were beaten comfortably in their first home game of the season.
Waterloo took the lead in the 2nd minute after they picked up on a loose ball from a throw in. The
ball was played out to the left where Jake Mann finished well, placing the ball into the far corner of

Mann capitalised on another mistake from the Hay defence. This time he ran onto a misjudged
header and slotted the ball past keeper Josh Davies. It was then 0-3 in first half stoppage time when
Tom Ellis scored a 20-yard looping header which dipped under Davies’ crossbar. Ht 0-3
Hay changed formation at half time to try and get some added support to an isolated Matty Tong.
Things were more even, and the home side got a goal back when Harry Ratcliffe poked the ball in
from a Phil Davies flick on from a corner. Ratcliffe then had a good chance to make it 2-3 when the
ball was loose from close range, but he was appealing to the ref for a handball. A minute later
Waterloo sealed any doubts when substitute Shaun Roberts scored with his first touch from a goal
mouth scramble. The game become stretched, and Rovers hit the post on a breakaway. Four became
five in the 92nd minute when Gareth Turner has time to turn 20 yards out and curled the ball into the
top corner. Ft 1-5.
