The Saints meet the Villagers conscious that recent form and the continued difficulties with selection are against them. The reverse of this fixture saw a very poor mid week performance from the Saints being severely punished. They will want to prove a number of things, with youngsters coming through with some very creditable performances and taking the place of more senior players out through injury. Caretaker manager Fil Wiz will want to end the season with an unbeaten run in May although there is doubt over whether the players are up to the fight. Particularly regarding the coming fixture away to Waterloo bank holiday monday where early indications would suggest that there may not even be a starting eleven to make the trip.
As well as long standing injuries for saturday: Chris Preee is out with a calf problem Kevin Jones who injured a big toe in a freak accident last week end is in communicado and Sam Powell is unable to play through University committments. A huge boost to the squad sees Mike Havard return to midfield and Josh Davies also back from injury. Steve Goodwin (ankle) Dan Jones (stomach) Tom Weaver (thigh) will all face a late fitness test.
