Holders Out.

Gwernyfed were beaten last night 4-3 by Builth Wells in the quarter final of the Ron Ellis memorial cup.

In an end to end tie the score could have been 10 each if it wasn’t for two outstanding goalkeeping performances from John Lewis(Gwernyfed) and Jamie Hope(Builth). Builth took an early lead through Kev Lewis which was quickly cancelled out when Danny Graham equalised. On 30 minutes Daniel (vinny) Walker made it 2-1 to Builth, five minutes later it was 2-2 when Graham got his second after a cross from Gavin Perry. ht 2-2.

The second half was much the same as the first with both teams attacking at every opportunity with the keepers and the woodwork coming to the rescue. It was Builth who scored next to go back infront 3-2 with Alervez getting on the score sheet after being set up by Lindsey. It was Willie Lindsey who scored  Builths 4th  it was a cracking goal which he hit across John Lewis to make it 4-2. Mark Walsh then scored a 25 yarder to make it 4-3 but with only 2 minutes left Builth held on to progress to the semi finals.

Final score Builth Wells 4 Gwernyfed 3.
