Saints 3 Newbridge-On-Wye 2.

The Saints won a very hard fought encounter against a strong Newbridge side.

The home side went 1-0 up on the hour when the outstanding Stuart Davies burst into the box and scored from close range, Newbridge made it 1-1 on 70 minutes with a left foot finish from Dan Bevis.

In the 78th minute Sam Powell made it 2-1 with a wonder strike, Powell lobbed the visiting keeper from distance, the midfielder was ten yards in his own half  when the ball left his foot for one the best goals ever seen at Forest Road to date. Matt Aubrey scored another excellent goal with two minutes remaining for what looked like giving the visitors a well deserved  draw, however, the homeside had other ideas, Davies nearly scored from kick off, then youngster Stu Snedden had an effort saved well by the visitors keeper, his kick though found Brendan Hackett some 40 yards out, Hackett hit the ball straight by the keeper who should really have done better.

Saints 3 Newbridge 2.

A tough encounter against a strong Newbridge side who had a few Hereford based players in their side including the excellent Mark Hibbard a former Hereford United youngster who has been playing for Westfields the last few seasons, another player who stood out for them was Max Powell of Presteigne who was last seasons March and April player of the month in the Spar Division one.

Chris Preece had an excellent game tonight for the Saints as did the rest of the defence but my man of the match goes to Stu Davies who was everywhere.
