Saints 3 Tredegar 3.

The Saints drew 3-3 today at Forest Road against a good footballing side from Tredegar.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 7th minute after the number six played a one two and finished past stand in keeper Tom Weaver. The visitors settled quicker and were well on top in the first 15 minutes, the Saints got more into the game after this and centre half Stu Davies had two headers saved by the Tredegar keeeper. ht 0-1.

The second half was end to end and on times got quite niggly, the Saints made it 1-1 when midfielder Brendan Hackett scored direct from a corner with around twenty minutes to go. Five minutes later Hackett scored the goal of game after striker Kevin Jones outmuscled his marker he laid the ball off to the midfielder who curled a twenty yarder into the top corner to make it 2-1.

Within thirty seconds of the restart the visitors equalised after the Saints hadn’t switched back on after Hacketts goal. It was the homeside who scored next, Hacketts corner finding centre half Davies who made it third time lucky by powering a header in to make it 3-2 with just a couple of minutes left on the clock, however, the visitors once again when straight down the other end and scored to make the final score 3-3 which was probably a fair result on the day.

Stand in gaffer Jay Probert was pleased with the  performance and heaped praise on several of the youngsters, he picked out Will Goodwins second half performance for a special mention but once again it was that man Stu Davies who was voted player of the match.
