Saints Win Builth Spa Cup.

The Saints came from a goal down to win 1-2 against host club Builth.

Hay had the better of the first half with Kevin Jones, Jake Atkinson, Lewis Pritchard and Phil Davies all going close, Builth came into the game towards the end of the first period but found Saints keeper Josh Davies in fine form. The game was held up for a while after Builths Lee James unfortunately had to be stretchered off with a suspected broken leg. ht 0-0

The home side started the second half the stronger, Adam Oakley went close with a long range effort but Josh Davies pulled off a great double save when another Builth player pounced on the rebounded first save.

Builth opened the scoring on the hour mark when the Saints defence didn’t deal with a cross and the loose ball was bundled over the line.

Hay brought on Brendan Hackett and this immediately paid divends when he equalised with a wonder strike which curled into the top corner of the net from the edge of the box.

Both sides had chances in the closing stages, with Davies pulling off a great save with his feet and from the resulting Bulth corner a Saints defender headed off the line for what was a certain goal, up the other end Kev Jones missed a sitter when put through by Hackett and twice Pritchard found himself one on one with the keeper but the youngster pulled both shots wide.

With around eight minutes to go Stuart Davies won a crunching tackle and burst into the box and scored a sweet left foot drive to win the cup for the Saints.
