Saints 5 Newbridge Res 0

The Saints won 5-0 yesterday  but put in a poor performance compared to the recent standards in cup competition.

The Saints were 1-0 up after 8 minutes when Max Walker turned and shot in the box after a lot of early pressure. This was soon 2-0 after Garry Keeble hit a long ball into the box from near the half-way line which deceived everyone including the Newbridge keeper. The game then became very scrappy with the Saints wasting several more chances to increase their lead. HT 2-0.

The second half was much the same with chance after chance wasted until Kevin Jones got the third when he turned and hit a shot into the bottom left corner of the net. Rob Snedden had a penalty well saved by the Bridge keeper after a defender handled on the line.Newbridge did have the odd counter attack which made Ian Jones came off his line and swept up well . Jones quickly got his second and the Saints 4th he also put in Ollie Cooke who finished well to make the full-time score 5-0.

The man of the match is tough this week because because nobody stood out for me, Max did well box to box Havo was consistant as usual and Ian Jones did well when his goal was under threat.
