Home Fixture.

The Saints host Abermule this weekend in a Spar division two fixture. Manager Tom Weaver is expecting a tough match even though the away tie saw the Saints win 2-6 on the opening day of the season. I have spoken with a couple of players who thought it was our toughest game so far, “we just played really well that day, everything came off” was one players comment.

Tom has two changes from last weeks winning squad, youngster Wilf Ratcliffe is unavailable as is utility player Josh Davies, Tom has put himself in the squad along with the now fit again Kevin Jones. Tom is pleased to have Kev back but has also been very impressed how the youngsters have coped without the striker in the side, Tom said “Kev is our main man up front but we still managed to score 11 goals in two games without him”. Tom also stresses he doesn’t want people getting carried away with the Saints start which sees them sitting top of the league, he feels the club aren’t quite ready for a promotion push just yet and would be more than happy with a mid table finish in their first season back in the Spar leagues, the squad is only small and will get smaller as players go off to university.

Tomorrow also sees the squad presented with their new training kit which is being kindly sponsored by Red Indigo, Eklim the owner has been a great sponsor of the team over the years so we would like to thank him for his continued support of the club.
