Brecon Corries 1 Saints 3.

The Saints are through to the semi-final of the Brecon Town cup after defeating the hosts tonight.

Manager Fil Wisnieski rested several players tonight for this cup tie. The Saints started the stronger and were soon creating chances and putting the Corries on the back foot.Michael Ward and Ollie Cooke went close early on, one chance was put wide while the other was well saved by keeper Steve Price. The Corries struggled to get out of their half and when they did Mike Havard and Stu Davies won everything that came their way. Josh Davies and Phil Davies supported the midfield when attacking giving the Saints lots of width.Just before half-time winger Jamie Howard skipped by his marker and sent in an inch perfect cross which Cooke just put wide. HT 0-0.

The Saints finally got the goal their play deserved in the 47th minute when Ollie Cooke turned his marker on the edge of the box and fired past Price. The Corries then had their best spell in the game but never really looked like scoring past Saints keeper Kirkham. The Saints midfield then took control again with the impressive Sam Powell everywhere on the night, again more chances were wasted until against the run of play the Corries equalised. Kevin Jones was brought on and soon won his team a penalty after a Corries defender handballed his pass in the area. Rob Snedden made no mistake from the spot 2-1. The best goal of the night came after a good move involving Jones, Snedden and Cooke who sent a ball across the box for the incoming Howard to hit first time into the top corner. The Corries players started to lose it a which resulted in Brian Keddle being sent off for an awful challenge on Powell and Matthew Jones was lucky to be on the pitch for a simular challenge on Snedden.  FT 3-1 Saints.

Tonights game showed our strength in depth with the lads who came in doing exceptionally well against a very physical Corries side. The man of the match for me was Sam Powell who was very dominant alongside Tom Weaver in the centre of midfield.
