Sunday Saints.

Gareth Jenkins was pleased with the effort put in last night from his reformed Sunday side after they beat Dore Valley 4-1.

The visitors went 0-1 up after 11 minutes, the hosts couldn’t get their passing game going but managed to equalise after a route one ball found John Sly who slotted past the visiting keeper.

Jenkins changed things around in the second period of 3 x 30 min  sessions, Steve Goodwin and Dan Jones took control of the midfield, Craig “Bruce” Forsyth netted twice on his Saints debut, the second a worldy, Forsyth impressed everyone watching including the first team manager with his non stop running, closing down of defenders and his finishing wasn’t bad either!

The final goal was scored by Goodwin who lobbed it over the keeper from 40 yards after he had raced out to clear a ball.

Jenks told me after the game he still had several more players to join an already strong looking side which had a mixture of youth and experience in it.

They will test themselves next Thursday when play the Saints first team in a friendly.
