Saints Win Cup.

The Saints started the final too casual and after 15 minutes found themselves 1-0 down when the Crickhowell striker hit a first time chip over the stranded Bryan Kirkham. This was the turning point in the game when the Saints started to dominate and 7 minutes later winger Gavin Williams made it 1-1 when he cut in from the left and blasted the ball past the Crick keeper. Sam Powell made it 2-1 just before half-time when his 30 yard shot deceived the diving Crick keeper and bounced over him to give the Saints a deserved lead going into the break.

The second half was simular with the Saints probing and Crick trying to counter attack but found Mike Havard and Stu Davies in fine from along with Garry Keeble and Phil Davies. Sam Powell made it 3-1 after 65 minutes and ended the game as a contest before he made a trip to Hereford hospital after being caught late by a Crick defender. Kev Jones was also replaced after another late challenge by the tiring Crick defence on a very heavy pitch. The final whistle went and Captain Tom Weaver stepped up to collect the first trophy of the season and hopefully not the last.

The man of the match again is a difficult one with Havo,Stu and Gavin having good games but I’m giving it to Sam for working hard and also scoring 2 goals in a cup final.
