Gareth Jenkins’ men closed the gap at the top of the league to 5 points, with 3 games in hand after a good second half performance saw the Saints comfortably beat the league leaders Cosmos 4-0.
The first half was a very tight affair, with neither team giving an inch, A free kick by Cosmos took a nasty bobble in front of Steve Jones in goal which he did well to hang on to, the only other chance of the half fell to John Sly, who beat the keeper to the ball but his left foot shot hit the post from an acute angle.
The second half was totally bossed by the Saints, Johnny Daw opened the scoring with a great goal, he nutmegged the defender on the edge of the box and smashed the ball into the roof of the net beating the keeper at the near post. John Sly doubled the score when he found himself in acres of room by the penalty spot and he wrong footed the keeper with a well placed effort. It was soon three when a ball forward was missed by the defender and Will Goodwin was on hand to prod the ball past the keeper. A few minutes from time centre half Steve Goodwin appeared in the box, after a couple of neat touches he cheekily rolled the ball into the far corner of the net. Full Time 4-0.
The Saints were poor and off the pace first half but there was a huge improvement second half. The league leaders didnt really trouble the Saints defence all game and it always looked like if the Saints scored it would turn out to be a comfortable morning for the home side.

Manager Gareth Jenkins thought we were pretty poor in the first half and then excellent in the second when we totally outplayed the league leaders. His man of the match was Jake Atkinson who was outstanding the whole game.
