Midfielder Brendan Hackett was on the score sheet.

The Saints started the brighter of the two sides and in fact could have been 2 or 3 up early on but striker Jack Biggs put all is efforts just wide of the mark, to the youngsters credit he got himself into scoring positions but it wasn’t his day.

Banw came more into the game after 25 minutes and a had a goal disallowed, a free kick was palmed away by Tom Lewis a Banw player tapped in from close range but was flagged offside. Lewis made a couple of good saves when the div 1 side were on top, up the other end Rob McNamara put an effort over the bar from the edge of the box. Ht 0-0

The lights came on the rain started to come down, with the winding swirling it was difficult for either side to play decent football, neither side created a lot in the second half.

The opening goal came on 70 minutes, McNamara won the ball on the left and went on a run down the wing  he beat the full back and his cross was met by Brendan Hackett who finished from 8 yards out. 1-0

Within two minutes it was all square, a Banw player was clipped just inside the area by Saints captain Stu Davies, referee Dave Bywater had no hesitation in pointing to the penalty spot, keeper Tom Lewis did get a hand to the spot kick but there was too much power to keep it out. 1-1.

There was a couple of efforts at both ends but the score remained 1-1 after 90 minutes.

The conditions now were awful, the pitch was cutting up and it was blowing a gale, both sides tried to play football but it wasn’t the best 30 minutes i’ve seen if i’m honest.

Formations went out of the window, it was end to end stuff with defences on top, just as it seemed a penalty shoot out was on the cards Banw were awarded a penalty in the 119th minute, defender Adam Finn was penalised for a push. Once again the Banw player made no mistake with another well taken penalty. Ft 1-2.

We missed some of our experienced players today but the youngsters who started did well in horrible conditions, Adam Finn did well as did captain Stu Davies who never gave up throughout, however, the gaffer gave man of the match to centre half Tom James, James was last seen heading off to A and E with a wrist injury, we await the news.
