The Saints won the Alfred Sparey cup on Sunday after finding themselves a goal down after 30 seconds. The ball was lost in midfield and the lively number 9 broke down the wing and crossed for his strike partner who finished well from close range. The Saints controlled the rest of the half and had numerous chances to score but the woodwork, bad finishing and some great goalkeeping kept thescore  1-0 to Stoke Prior. Kevin Jones broke through the middle just before half-time and flicked the ball to strike partner Rob Snedden who got the equaliser taking the two sides in 1-1 at the interval.

The second half was simular to the first with the Saints controlling midfield with Chris Preece having an excellent game and Mike Havard and Stu Davies dominating the dangerous Stoke Prior front two. More excellent goalkeeping kept the score 1-1 until Ollie Cooke came on to replace Kevin Jones and within a few minutes Snedden put Cooke in on goal and he finished well to put the Saints 2-1 up with 15 to go. Rob Snedden then scored the goal of the game after receiving the ball on the half way line he turned and ran at a tired defence beating 2 men and then the keeper to put the Saints into a 3-1 lead with hardly any time left. The referee blew the final whistle for the Saints to claim their second trophy of a very productive weekend.

Presteigne officials awarded Mike Havard a bottle of bubbly for his man of the match appearance.
