The Saints are through into the next round of the Welsh Cup after a 7-2 win against Borth United FC.
Goalscorers were Brendan Hackett(3), Matt James(2), Rob McNamara and Kevin Jones.
We were quick out of the blocks today and pegged Borth back for the first twenty minutes with wave after wave of attacks, Matt James playing in an advanced role put us 1-0 up and strike partner Rob McNamara made it 2-0 after 14 minutes.
In that opening period we should of added more but for some great goalkeeping from the visitors stopper, in fact Borth pulled a goal back with a long range effort from new signing Sean Button.
From another counter attack Button made it 2-2 and game on, we were still on top and were awarded a corner, before the corner was taken a Borth defender was shown the red card for a stamping offense right in front of the referee.
Two minutes later Brendan Hackett put us 3-2 up when he jinked into the box and finished from 8 yards out. Ht 3-2
Due to the visitors being down to ten we pinned them back throughout the second half, Hackett made it 4-2 when he scored a 25 yard free kick past the replacement keeper, the Borth number 1 had to leave the pitch at half time with a rib injury.
Kevin Jones made it 5-2 with twenty minutes to go and then Matt James made it 6-2 in the 82nd minute, with just a few minutes left on the clock Hackett once again bent another free kick past the keeper for his hat-trick which made the final score 7-2.
A good performance against a decent side, their front two are the best we have come against this season and will cause all teams in this division problems. We wish the Borth keeper a speedy recovery.
