The Saints went down 4-5 to a much improved Builth Wells FC side tonight at Forest Road. The visitors were the better side throughout and deservedly left with the 3 points.

Builth dominated the opening exchanges yet against the run of play the Saints went 1-0 up after Rob Snedden hit a 25 yard free kick past Andrew Claridge.

The visitors equalised in the 26th minute when Lee James out jumped the Saints defence and  headed in at the back post, five minutes later they went 1-2 up through striker Jamie Mcllroy who got on the end of a cross from the right wing and prodded the ball home from 6 yards out.

Two minutes into the second half Brendan Hackett saw his curling effort clip the post, however, the midfielder wasn’t to be denied, in the 51st minute he out paced the Builth defence and fired a low shot into the bottom corner to put the Saints back into the lead at 3-2.

It took the visitors just five minutes to equalise Brad Rollinson who was unmarked at the back post scoring past Tom Lewis after a cross from the right.

On the hour mark the visitors failed to clear a corner and Biggs was the quickest to react by shooting through a crowd of players to make it 4-3 to the home side. Once again Builth were level within three minutes, they were awarded a free kick 22 yards out whilst Lewis was stood at the near post organizing his wall a Builth player casually chipped it over and the ball rolled into an empty net with the Saints players all stood looking at each other. 4-4.

The rest of the game was end to end but the visitors had the better chances and with 5 minutes left sealed the victory after Sam Bradley was penalised for a foul some 25 yards out, the free kick was planted into the top corner to make it 4-5.

The Saints had one last chance but Hackett’s free kick was headed over the bar by Biggs in injury time. Ft 4-5.
