The Saints had a comfortable win last night defeating a battling Penybont Athletic 8-0.
It took the Saints 19 minutes to break down a stubborn Penybont defence and it was a root one ball from keeper Ian Jones which found midfielder Russ Jones who turned and played a throughball to striker Kevin Jones, Jones hit a right foot shot past the Penybont keeper. Five minutes later Jones got his second after playing a one two with Rob Snedden. A Ben Bevan corner was headed in by Russ Jones on 31 minutes and fives minutes later Josh Wisniewski got his first of the night after a mix up by the away sides defence. The goal of the night was next involving Kevin Jones, Ben Bevan and Sam Mayglothling, Mayglothling scored it getting his first of the season for the Saints. On the stroke of half time Wisniewski got the 6th and his second from a cross from strike partner Jones. ht 6-0.
The second half was more Saints pressure but only two goals were scored the first from Ben Bevan after being set up by Kevin Jones, Bevan then set up Jone’s replacement Jon Daw who made no mistake from close range. ft 8-0.
A one sided affair with the Penybony defence and keeper working hard throughout to keep the score down, the back four kept it tight, I can’t remember Ian having to make a save the whole game. I thought Kevin played well while he was on as did Russ, I can’t pick between Ben and Sam Mac for the man of the match award.
