Weave’s Dream Team.

When players retire or leave the club I often ask them to pick their dream squad from the years they were involved. Recently Tom Weaver who has spent over 15 years playing and managing the club has chosen his. This is what Tom had to say and who he chose.

Weave’s the Manager.

When players retire or leave the club I often ask them to pick their dream squad from the years they were involved. Recently Tom Weaver who has spent over 15 years playing and managing the club has chosen his.

This is what Tom had to say and who he chose –

Here goes!!

First I’d like to thank everyone I have played with and played under. I think the quality in sides has improved in the time I have played but could not beat the social side in my second season under Sloper!!

I’ve been fortunate to play with some very good players and teams so to pick my best was hard. I’ve have gone with people I would not like to play against myself. Sure I have left some people out but trust me it’s hard.

I’ve gone for a 4-2-3-1 formation

Goalkeeper – Steve “Becksy” Price,I’ve been lucky at Hay to have played with some good keepers but I think Becksy stands out, he kept us in a lot of games in the Spar League 1, great shot stopper.

Right Back – Steve Goodwin Has to be in my team somewhere just a raw talent which he has shown a lot more this year, the lad can do everything and play anywhere.

Centre Back – Chris Preece Like many one of the first names on the team sheet, Hay through and through. More of an old school player, just wants to win and not many strikers have got the better of him. Likes a Friday pint too!!!

Centre Back – Wes Evans Again like “Preecer” solid and formed a good partnership with him In The Spar League, not much went past him.

Left Back – Phil Davies Soild, quick and likes getting forward( also likes a tackle) another who would be in many peoples best team.

Central Midfield – Wayne Evans Really hard solid player who could play and score goals after a heavy night on the beer!!!

Central Midfield – Mike Harvard (Captain) Hard choice just to pick two because I also wanted Kevin “Moo” Lloyd in there. Havo was an unsung hero, who did a great job in the mixer year in year out and I for one would never of fancied being up against him.

Three behind the front man –

Rob Snedden – Best player I’ve played with such a raw talent with work rate to match, he could win games on his own,one player which made you say wow!!!

Brendan Hackett – Modern day player who is so so good on the ball and sees what’s around him with ease, still has plenty of years ahead of him.

Gavin Williams Had a great partnership with Phil Davis down the left, hard working and could beat players with ease, great left foot.

Striker – Kevin “Joey” Jones – Played with him since under 11’s and he always scored goals. He plays on the edge, sometimes too much but can bully defences at will and like many from this team should have played at a higher level.

Subs – Josh Wisniewski – Sorry “Wiz” (just playing one up front). Work rate and goals goals goals, enough said!!!

Jay Probert – Great leader and attitude.

Josh Davies – Can play anywhere and never looks out of place wherever that is.

Stu Davis – Really come in to his own over the last few years as a leader on the pitch.

I think that team could compete with the best.

Manger – Big Fil Wisniewski.
