The Saints won 2-3 away for the second game running, this time at Knighton Town FC.
Goals by Jack Biggs, Matt Croose and Matt James sealed the win.
Jack Biggs opened the scoring early on after Ryan Davies beat two men and saw his shot saved by the Knighton keeper, Biggs was the first to react and smash the rebound home 0-1.
Knighton saw a lot of the ball but couldn’t find a way past the Saints defence, we always looked dangerous on the counter attack with Davies and Brendan Hackett prominent. There wasn’t many other goal scoring opportunities, however, a goalmouth scramble in the Knighton box was finally cleared to safety. Ht 0-1.
The second half saw us have more of the ball and in the 55th minute we won a corner, Hackett crossed to the back post where Matt Croose came in unmarked and headed past a diving Woodhouse to make it 0-2.
Hackett had a chance to make it 0-3 after Davies beat his marker and slipped a pass through, Hackett chipped the keeper but the ball came back off the crossbar and was cleared to safety.
Tom Lewis had to be alert on a couple of occasions tipping the ball over the bar from long range efforts.
The Saints did get a third when Biggs chipped the ball over the top towards Matt James, a centre back got it first but then hit a weak pass which James intercepted and rounded the keeper before rolling the ball into an empty net. 0-3.
With four minutes remaining a Gareth Mansell free kick was saved by Lewis, however, Oliver Richards calmly dinked the rebound into the far corner to make it 1-3. Knighton then scored again with a minute left on the clock, a ball was crossed into the area and veteran Lee Sutton headed it past Lewis for 2-3.
The Saints kicked off and kept possession until the referee blew the final whistle for a well deserved win. Ft 2-3.
Manager Gareth Jenkins said “It was a very good team performance, we had a game plan and it was good to see it come to fruition”
