Saints Through to Next Round in The League Cup.

The Saints beat Machynlleth FC 8-4 in a high scoring game in the second round of the league cup.

Goal scorers were Brendan Hackett(2), Jack Biggs(2), Ryan Davies(2), Steve Morgan and Rob Snedden.

Scorers for Mach were Richie Evans(3) and Drew Page.

In a bizzare game in which “Mach”had the better of the exchanges for the opening fifteen minutes it was  The Saints who went 3-0 in a mad five minute spell. Steve Morgan opened the scoring in the 16th minute, one minute later top scorer Jack Biggs made it two and just two minutes later Biggs was on hand again to make it 3-0.

“Mach” were awarded a penalty in the 21st minute when a Richie Evan’s cross was deemed to have hit Steve Goodwin on the hand, Evans dispatched the resulting penalty past stand in keeper Jordan Baker for 3-1.

The goal of the game came after 30 minutes, Rob Snedden beat two men before hitting a 20 yard left footed effort into the top corner.

Ht 4-1.

Within two minutes of the re-start Brendan Hackett got a goal his work rate and overall play deserved to put us 5-1 up.

In the 61st minute Evans got his second to make it 5-2 then a minute later Mach striker Drew Page made it 5-3.

Manager Gareth Jenkins brought on Ryan Davies for the injured Biggs and the forward soon made his presence felt with several runs at the visitors back four causing problems and within minutes of being on Davies netted making it 6-3 with twenty to go.

Richie Evans cut in from the left in the 72nd minute and fired in his hat-trick goal (6-4). One minute later Hackett rounded the Mach keeper for 7-4.  The last goal came with a minute to go and it was Ryan Davies who netted from 20 yards out.

Ft 8-4.

This was a great game for the spectators with goals galore, what was even more odd both keepers made several good saves during the game. I’m sure the elements didn’t help matters, like everywhere else it was wet and windy throughout.
