Winning Run Continues.

The Saints won 5 – 0 against Montgomery Town FC this afternoon at Forest Raod.

Goal scorers were Rob Snedden, Jack Biggs, Brendan Hackett, Matt James and Steve Morgan.

The pitch was looking great an hour before kick off and then the heavens opened.

In heavy conditions we started off well pegging Monty back deep into their own half, chances were being created from the off. It took 16 minutes for the first goal to go in, Rob Snedden firing his shot across the visitors keeper from an acute angle to put us 1-0 up.

Monty struggled to deal with Ryan Davie’s tricky runs and pace and on another day he could of netted a first half half trick, the Monty keeper seemed to save every effort with his feet, hands, knees and anything else that got in the way. However, he had no chance when midfielder Brendan Hackett curled a shot from the edge of the area past him to put us 2-0 up in the 24th minute.

Top scorer Jack Biggs made it 3-0 twisting and turning in the area before finishing from close range. We could and probably should of added to our total but when the half time whistle went the score was 3-0.

As the conditions worsened it became harder by the minute to play any flowing football, we were still very dominant against a Monty team with players missing through suspension and low on confidence.

In form midfielder Matt James put us 4-0 up after a well timed run into the box and a good finish from close range.

Biggs hit the cross bar and then the post with the keeper well beaten, to the Monty stoppers credit he again made numerous saves when players were through one on one with him.

The last play of the game saw a free kick from the right headed down by Stu Davies, Steve Morgan was the first to react and scored to add his impressive tally in his first season with The Saints. Ft 5-0.

Unfortunately due to the horrific conditions this wasn’t the best football match, saying that we dominated from start to finish. The Gaffer was pleased with another clean sheet, that’s thre out of the last four games.Goal keeper Steve Jones had one to save to make from a free kick, the back four looked solid throughout, I thought Matt Croose and Jordan Baker were excellent today along with the Goodwin brothers.

The Gaffer chose Jordan Baker has his man of the man of the match.
