The Saints Reserves narrowly defeated The Under 18’s 4-3 today in The Sid Wilding Memorial Cup.
Tom Weaver (2), Ollie Cooke (1) Jon Sly (1) scored the reserves goals and Tom Wilkes (1), Jake Atkinson (1) and Steve Goodwin (1) were the under 18 scorers.
The club would like to thank Paul Kirkham for refereeing todays contest.
Sid Wilding spent over 40 years being involved with the club, Sid’s son Paul was at todays game and handed over the cup to reserve team Captain Stuart Davies.
Stuart was also selected as the reserves man of the match, Steve Goodwin winning the under 18’s man of the match award, both players receiving a case of lager and a bottle of champagne.
I would also like to thank the two managers today, Ian Powell for organising everything and Andrew Harris for his help in getting the pitch marked etc after groundsman Cliff Havard spent several hours yesterday mowing the pitch and surrounds.
