The Saints beat visiting Machynlleth FC 4-0 today with a dominant performance from start to finish.

Goal scorers were Brendan Hackett(2), Steve Morgan and Ryan Losito.

We started at a high tempo which continued throughout the whole 90 minutes.’ Machs’ keeper made numerous saves in the first half to keep his side in the game.

Rob Snedden hit the bar, Owen Lloyd had a debatable goal effort cleared off the line or from over the line depending on which part of Wales you are from!

Brendan Hackett went close on several occasions as did Steve Morgan, when the referee blew for half time with the score 0-0 I thought, here we go it’s going to be one of those days.

Ht 0-0

It took three minutes into the second half for us to open the scoring, the outstanding Snedden crossed from the right to Hackett who shot across the keeper into the far corner to put us 1-0 up.

We continued to press and push ‘Mach’ back deeper into their half, Morgan made it 2-0 with a header at the back post from a Tom James cross in the 55th minute.

The pacey Drew Paige who had been marked well by Matt James and Chris Preece had a chance to pull a goal back but his volley went wide.

After good build up play, Ryan Losito netted his first goal for ‘The Saints’, the tricky winger scoring from 16 yards out making it 3-0.

With ten minutes to go  sub Kyle Harding, Harding crossed into the box but the ball was cleared, however, it fell at the feet of Brendan Hackett who bent a 25 yarder into the bottom corner.

Ft 4-0.

We clicked today and played well from start to finish, Machynlleth are a good side and we made them look ordinary. It was good to get our third clean sheet in a row. Next week we could have Matt Croose, Steve Goodwin, Ryan Davies all back from injury and Jordan Cooper’s international clearance through, there will be serious competition for places.

Team –
