The Saints lost 1-2 to league leaders Rhayader Town FC tonight at Forest Raod.
New signing Ifan Burrell and Rhys Thomas with the winner were the visitors scorers. Top scorer Brendan Hackett with our goal.
The game opened up with a couple of meaty challenges, one of which could of been a red on another day. The visitors were on top possession wise while we looked to hit them on the counter attack.
Rhys Thomas had a free header at goal but didn’t realise how much time he had and headed the ball back across goal which was cleared by Matt Croose. Up the other end Ryan Davies was in on goal but a last grasp tackle stopped the forward from scoring.
Rhayader went ahead in the 31st minute when new signing Ifan Burrell finished well after a cut back in the box 0-1.
Jordan Baker in our goal had to save well on a couple of occasions from further Rhayader attacks.
Jack Biggs went close with a header from a Hackett corner which went inches over the bar.
Brendan Hackett equalised on the stroke of half time, finishing from the right hand side of the area after Rob Snedden’s free kick had deflected to him.

Rhayader were controlling the middle of the park and went ahead in the 54th minute through Rhys Thomas who latched on to a through ball and lifted it over the advancing Jordan Baker.
For ‘Saints’Stu Davies saw two long range efforts go wide, while Steve Morgan’s header was saved by Joe Prosser from a Hackett corner.
In all fairness to the visitors they defended very well and kept the ball in the last fifteen minutes, we just couldn’t break them down to get that equalising goal.
