After a close first half which Newcastle just edged but never really tested Saints keeper Tom Bevan the sides went in at the break even.

We got on top in the second half which saw the Newcastle keeper make two good saves early on. On the hour mark youngster Matty Tong hit a 25 yard shot which the keeper got a hand to but couldn’t stop it hitting the back of the net. 1-0
Five minutes later Tong was brought down in the area from a clumsy challenge, veteran Kevin Jones sent the keeper the wrong way from the resulting penalty. 2-0
With five minutes to go Darren Horrigan who had tormented his marker with his pace all game finished well after Joe Emmett and Rob McNamara had combined to set him up.
