Both Sides Lose.

The first team lost 4-2 at the seaside against Aberaeron FC.

Goal scorers were Adi Lawford and Rob Snedden(pen).

The reserves also went down 2-1 at Llandrindod Wells Reserves FC.

Goal scorer Wilf Ratcliffe.

The reserves were slow to get going but once we settled and got our foot on the ball we created several good goal scoring opportunities.

Kyle Harding was put through twice, first by Rob McNamara and then by Matty Tong but both efforts were well saved. Harding then put Tong away on the counter with a ball over the top but again the keeper saved a good goal scoring chance.

‘Llandod’ sat back with the experienced Ben Jones and Rob Saunders leading from the back, they looked to play counter attacking football after breaking down our attacks.

From one such counter attack ‘Llandod’ were awarded a penalty after James Eckley brought down a ‘Dod’ player. The penalty was put wide and from the kick off within seconds striker McNamara saw his effort from close range saved again by the home keeper.

The home side went 1-0 up in the 28th minute when a 30 yard effort looped over Tom Bevan into the back of the net.

After the restart Darren Horrigan beat the full back and cut the ball back to Tong who saws his effort blocked. Two minutes later Harding crossed from the left to player manager Joe Emmett who sent a header wide from close range.

Ht 1-0

Playing down the slope in the second period with the wind we piled on the pressure in the opening ten minutes. We finally got a goal after Hardings’ shot came back off the bar and Wilf Ratcliffe calmly placed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. 1-1.

‘Llandod’ had their best spell of the game after we equalised and their left winger missed a good chance to put them back into the lead with the goal at his mercy, he screwed his shot wide.

The last fifteen became scrappy, a ball over the top on the counter saw one of our defenders slip and the ‘Llandod’ forward scored past Bevan. 2-1.

We pushed for the equaliser, McNamara went close with a couple of long range efforts going just wide but it just wasn’t to be.

Ft 2-1

A bizarre game to watch, when you add up how many good goal scoring chances we created it’s hard to believe we lost that game but that’s football!

I will try speak with Jenks to get his views on the first teams loss at Aberaeron.
