‘The Saints’ Win Away.

The Saints won 1-4 at Tywyn Bryncrug FC in a Spar League Division 1 Fixture.

Goal scorers were Steve Morgan(2nd), Adi Lawford(47th), Will Goodwin(73rd) and man of the match Callum Maddy(78th).

We got off to a great start with Steve Morgan turning a defender inside out in the second minute before shooting across the keeper into the bottom right corner of the net. 0-1

For the next 30 minutes we were the better side playing keep ball but never really tested the Tywyn young keeper. We then dropped off and went to sleep for the 15 minutes leading up to half time but Jordan Baker in our goal was also not tested.

Ht 0-1

After a few choice words from the management team about upping the tempo we started the second half like the first and in the 47th minute we went 0-2 ahead. After a good passing move involving several players winger Adi Lawford was on hand to lob the keeper from 12 yards out.

The home side came back at us and although we saw a lot more of the ball they hit the post on two occasions plus Jordan Baker made two very good saves from close range. That was the closest they came to scoring on a bobbly pitch which was difficult to play football on.

The game was put to bed in the 73rd minute when the hard working Will Goodwin finished off a pass from Morgan who could of shot himself but unselfishly played Goodwin in on goal. 0-3

Our last goal came in the 78th minute after a Brendan Hackett corner was headed away from goal only for man of the match Callum Maddy to hit it first time from 25 yards out, the ball flew into the top corner of the net. 0-4.

Tywyn scored a late consolation goal in the 88th minute.

Ft 1-4

This was an excellent performance due to the fact the whole of our midfield from last weeks win against Berriew were missing. We looked solid at the back with Matt Croose and Chris Preece in the middle, Tom James and Richard Meredith fullbacks. Captain Brendan Hackett led by example working his socks off, behind him was Steve Goodwin playing in an unfamiliar role at holding mid. Wingers Adi Lawford and Steve Morgan caused problems all afternoon and as usual Will Goodwin ran himself into the ground. It was youngster Callum Maddy who is getting better every game who was chosen as man of the match by his team mates.

Thanks to Harry Ratcliffe who stepped up to help out and did a good job when he came on.
