A Win and a Loss.

A mixed bag today as both our first team and reserve team played host to Llanidloes Town FC.

The first team were well beaten by an impressive ‘Llani’ side 0-3 whilst the reserves continued their title charge with a 3-2 win.

Goal scorers were Josh Wisniewski(2) and Rob McNamara.

Unfortunately I didn’t get to see much of either game but I can give a brief account of both games from others.

Reserves

The reserves played with the strong wind in the first half but found themselves a goal down after 25 minutes. This was soon cancelled out when striker Rob McNamara equalised.

Ht 1-1

Playing into the wind in the second half seemed a daunting task but five minutes after kick off we went 2-1 ahead when Josh Wisniewski scored at the back post after a  Chris Preece flick on from a corner.

Wisniewski then scored his second to put the reserves 3-1 ahead. ‘Llani’ were soon back in it when captain Chris Preece was penalised for a challenge in the area giving referee Chris Corfield no option but to point to the spot. The penalty was duly converted and it was it game on again at 3-2.

The visitors did get the ball in the net but it was ruled out for offside by the linesman. Both sides had chances to score later in the game but it remained at 3-2 when the final whistle went.

The Reserves are now level with Talgarth Town FC on points but have two games in hand, we are 4 points behind league leaders Brecon Northcote with 3 games in hand and have to play each other at Forest Road.

First Team

The first team who were missing a number of regulars were put under the cosh from the off against a very fit and energetic ‘Llani’ side. Only some last ditch tackles from our back four plus saves from stand in keeper Tom Lewis kept them at bay.

We did have a good chance which fell to Adi Lawford but his effort was easily saved by keeper Aaron Warwick.

On the stroke of half time the visitors whipped in a corner which Edward Clarke got on the end of to put his side 0-1 up at half time.

Within minutes of the restart a carbon copy corner saw Clarke get his second of the afternoon which put his side 0-2 up.

Josh Matthews put the game out of our reach by adding a third mid way through the second half.
