Reserves Lose on Penalties.

The Saints Reserves are out of ‘The Ron Ellis Memorial Cup’ after losing 4-2 on penalties to Brecon Northcote FC.

The game ended 3-3 after an end to end encounter.

Northcote opened the scoring after 4 minutes when an attacker outpaced our defenced and slotted past stand in keeper Gethin Jones.

A Kevin Jones free kick on 26 minutes was saved by the visitors keeper but midfielder Jamie Howard was hand to slot the rebound in to equalise 1-1.

The conditions worsened as the half time approached, chances fell at both ends, striker Jones having the best with a penalty which he hit the post with. Ht 1-1

The second half was similar to the first with both teams having spells on top. During one of the said spells two chances went begging and a quick counter attack saw Northcote retake the lead. 1-2.

In the 78th minute they extended their lead with a Joel Evans goal. 1-3

A minute later substitute Harry Ratcliffe scored after outpacing the full back. 2-3

In the 82nd minute Jones put Ratcliffe in again for a carbon copy goal and finish from the left. 3-3

Both sides had chances to win it in the last few minutes but referee Joe Lewis blew up with the final score 3-3

Northcote scored all 4 penalties and unfortunately we missed 2 of ours.

Brecon Northcote FC will now play Talgarth Town FC on finals day April 30th.
