Saints Win Derby.

The Saints beat local rivals Talgarth Town FC 0-5 this afternoon at the ‘King George Playing Field’

Goal scorers were Jack Biggs (2), Tom Landon, Matty Tong and Callum Maddy.

We had the perfect start, after taking kick off we knocked the ball around with confidence, the ball was eventually crossed into the box to midfielder Jack Biggs who headed past Talgarth keeper Martin Norwood after 30 seconds without a home player touching the ball. 0-1

On 20 minutes we doubled our lead, Darren Horrigan found striker Tom Landon who ran through and fired his shot past the diving Norwood. 0-2

Our central three midfielders were dominant during the first half, constantly putting us on the front foot, however, we went in at the break with just the two goal lead when in all honesty is should of been more.

Ht 0-2

On the hour mark we added our third when the impressive Jack Biggs put striker Matty Tong in on goal, the youngster finishing well past Norwood. 0-3

Biggs put Tong in again but as he was fouled on the line in what looked a stonewall penalty the ball fell to the hard working Callum Maddy who made no mistake from close range. 0-4

A though ball to Tong from Jamie Howard saw the striker tripped in the area by Norwood, this time the referee blew straight away and a penalty was awarded. Tong sent the keeper the wrong way but he missed the target in doing so.

Late in the game Jack Biggs who had been the best player on the pitch had the last say when he netted his second from close range and our fifth. 0-5

Ft 0-5

We had a great start which set up the tone for the rest of the game, we dominated for pretty much the whole match. I thought Gethin Davies battled really well for Talgarth throughout. We were a bit sloppy on times otherwise I don’t think the management have too much to complain about, it wasn’t easy to play on that pitch after the weather we have had recently. Jamie Howard did well considering he’s been out for so long, our back three were excellent and were never really troubled.
