First Team Out Of Welsh Cup

The first team are out of ‘The Welsh Cup’ after a 3–1 loss at Montgomery Town FC.

It was frustrating afternoon for ‘The Saints’ who had large amounts of possession throughout the game against a physical ‘Monty’ which saw a few unsavoury incidents off the ball.

The talented Tom Evans was once again the difference between the two sides, after hardly touching the ball in the opening 15 minutes by the 17th he scored two good goals one after a mistake at the back.

We settled after the setback and piled on the pressure, Greg Preece and Kieran Patel seeing efforts saved. Matty Tong got the ball in the net but was penalised for a foul on their centre back.

The second half followed a similar pattern, Callum Maddy impressing at CDM. The hosts kicked a couple off the line and their keeper made a last ditch save off Jack Biggs. Biggs finally found the net from the penalty spot after a outfield Monty player was penalised for saving a shot with his hand on the line.

As we continued to press the hosts caught us on the counter which resulted in a 25 yard screamer flying past the diving Tom Bevan.

The new manager changed the formation and it definitely improved us, we just needed a bit of luck today and we could of got a result. Two lads played with injuries today due to players still missing. One of them Adi Lawford playing out position was awarded our man of the match.
