Other Results.

Talgarth Rovers 2 Builth Wells 4.

Rhosgoch 5 Llandrindod Colts 1.

Penybont Athletic 0 Rhayader Reserves 2.

The Saints found themselves 1-0 up after 30 seconds when striker John Sly chased a Gav Perry back pass down, keeper Martin Preece got the ball stuck under his feet and when he did finally clear it he only managed to kick the ball straight at Sly, the ball cannoned into the back of the net for 1-0. Ian Jones had to be at his best to keep out a Brian Keddle shot in the 8th minute. Further goals from Sly and Holland saw the Saints 3-0 up after 20 minutes, the goal of the game came in the 34th minute when Wayne Evans hit a 25 yard free kick into the top corner of the net for 4-0 which was the half time score.

The second period saw Talgarth come more into the game but the Saints were still causing problems on the counter attack with Sly’s pace. A consolation goal was scored by Nathan Holmes with 15 minutes to go, Holmes’ 25 yard effort giving Jones no chance as it moved in the air to make it 4-1. Youngster Stu Snedden had a couple of efforts saved by Preece after showing some good foot work in the box. ft 4-1

Another good performance from the reserves who really had Talgarth on the rack in those first 45 minutes where they could of scored even more goals. I thought the whole team played well but was again impressed with striker John Sly who scored two and worked very hard all night.

Team- Ian Jones, Mike Ward(Steve Jones), Toby Johnson, Alec Winstone(c), Will Goodwin, Wayne Evans(Chris Bounds), Graeme Keeble, Oli Cooke,Lloyd Holland(Stu Snedden), Jamie Howard, John Sly.
