Saints 2 Llansantffraid Village 4.

The Saints lost 2-4 to an impressive Llansantffraid Village after leading 2-0 after 20 minutes.

The Saints found themselves 1-0 up after 6 minutes from one of the most bizzare goals I’ve seen in a long while, a Village player played the ball back to his keeper who slipped on the edge of the box whilst clearing it, his clearance going straight to another Village defender who also tried to clear the ball but sliced it back over his keepers head on to the crossbar, the rebound falling to striker Kevin Jones who volleyed in from 6 yards out. Jones made it 2-0 after 19 minutes, Sam Bradley took a long throw which was flicked on by Jones’ strike partner Josh Wisniewski, Jones placing his shot in the top corner of the net.

This was as good as it got for the homeside as The Villagers took control for the rest of game, Toby Johnson made a great tackle in the area but his clearance fell to a visiting player who hit low shot past a diving Ian Jones for 2-1. More pressure followed but The Saints held firm and in a rare attack midfielder Mike Havard hit a 25 yard effort which came off the bar with the keeper well beaten. ht 2-1.

It didn’t take the away sided long to equalise and then take a 2-3 lead on the hour mark, a 30 yard free kick hit the bar and bounced off the line, they then blasted a penalty over the bar after Havard was penalised for a trip in the box. The classy Prodger got the 4th to end it as a contest with 10 minutes to go. ft 2-4.

We dominated the first 20 minutes and were 2-0 up, I thought we would go on to win comfortably at the is stage but all credit to our visitors they played very well for the next 70 minutes, it’s like someone said ” they were still on the bus the first 20 minutes”.
