Saints End Season With a Win.

The Saints finished their season with a 4-2 victory against Penybont.

Mr Versatile (Josh Davies) opened the scoring midway through the first half when he outpaced the visitors defence after being put through by Kevin Jones, Davies who was in goal on Saturday and plays most Saturdays in defence or midfield played as a makeshift centre forward tonight.

Penybont hit back ten minutes later to make it 1-1 and then went 1-2 up when stand in keeper Tom Weaver was beaten at the near post, both sides had chances to add to their tally but the score stayed 1-2 at half time.

The Saints brought on Garry Keeble and Sam Bradley early in the second half but it was the introduction of Phil Davies which made a big difference, he made an immeadiate impact by scoring with his first touch after being put in by Jones who claimed his second assist of the night.

Both sides saw plenty of possession for the next ten minutes, the third Saints goal came when brothers Phil and Stu Davies combined the latter hitting a 25 yard lob which gave the keeper no chance.

The win was finally sealed when Jones beat the offside trap and placed a right foot shot past the diving keeper to make the final score 4-2.

It was the older players who scored the goals tonight but two youngsters stood out for me, Adam Finn and Rory Hackett had excellent games, I’m pretty sure both are no older than 17 so the future looks good for the Saints.
