Groundhoppers Day on Saturday.

Hay St Mary’s Football Club are one of this seasons clubs who haved been chosen to host “The Groundhoppers”, they will visit this Saturday evening when we host our old foes Talgarth Town in a local derby.

For the benefit of those who don’t know, the Groundhoppers are a group of serious football fans who love to tour around non-league grounds taking in new leagues and grounds around the country.

They will spend the weekend taking in games around the Spar Mid Wales League and Mid Wales League (South) and, as part of this, they will be visiting Forest Road for the home game against Talgarth Town on Saturday, 25 August.

Regular fans are asked to note there will be a number of changes to the usual arrangments, not least in the kick off time as this will be at 7.30pm.

Saints chairman Fil Wisniewski explains that many of the arrangements for Saturday’s game are laid down by the Groundhoppers themselves and is asking regular fans to bear this in mind.

“The Groundhoppers usually bring a large group of fans to the game, so this ought to help swell the club’s coffers, but there are stipulations over just what they expect – this is fair enough, after all, ‘he who pays the piper calls the tune’ to a degree,” he said.

“Among these stipulations is the admission for Saturday’s game – this will be £3.00 for all adults and £1.00 for under 16’s.

Programmes will be available on the day.

There will be limited parking available at the Brecon Road entrance, however, there will be ample parking at the Forest Road entrance.

The clubhouse will be open for a pre game pint and hot food and drinks will be available during the match.
