Penparcau 4 Saints 1

Penparcau started the brighter of the two sides and were the better side in the first 15 minutes but didn’t really trouble the Saints goal. Hay then started to gain confidence and got on top which resulted in Penparcau giving away several fouls around the penalty area, on 28 minutes Rob Snedden hit a free kick from 35 yards which came back off the bar and was cleared to safety. Kevin Jones was next to test their keeper when he turned and hit a low shot which was tipped around the post,2 minutes later Snedz hit another shot which the keeper got down to and held. The Saints then conceded a soft goal when the dangerous Lee Jones got on the end of a cross from Matty Davies and finished well. HT 0-1.

The Saints soon found themselves 2 down when the pacey Davies scored from close range. The Saints were now chasing the game and the classy Snedden took a ball out of the air from a Kirkham kick and layed it off to winger Jamie Howard who sent in a first time cross to striker Jones who made no mistake finishing to make it 1-2. The Saints pushed on for the equaliser and left themselves vunerable to the counter attack but keeper Kirkham kept them in th game with several top class saves. With about 8 minutes to go the Saints were caught out when Lee Jones put in the excellent Ishmel Abberton to make it 1-3. The non stop running Abberton then returned the compliment when he broke down the right and crossed for Jones to score his 2nd and his teams fourth.

I thought we matched Penparcau in most areas of the pitch and didn’t deserve the end scoreline but when your chasing a game you do leave yourselves vunerable at the back. Their number 8 Ishmel Abberton was the difference between the two teams, he has been asked by higher graded clubs to play for them along with Lee Jones number 10 and Matty Davies number 11. For me our our men of the match were Kirks and Havo.
