The Saints faced newly promoted Bartestree last night in a warm up match for the coming season and went down 4-2.
The visitors matched the home side for 80 minutes but two late goals sealed the win for Bartestree after the Saints had deservedly led twice. Manager Tom Weaver thought the fitness levels of the hosts was the difference, they were playing their 7th friendly.
Goalscorers for the Saints were Kevin Jones from a Will Goodwin inch perfect pass and Rob Macnamara who turned his man inside out on the box before curling a shot in which a home defender helped over the line.
Weaver was happy with the performance and even more happy after the game when Toby Johnson and Rob Macnamara signed on the dotted line. Tom is hoping another player will put pen to paper this week, if he does the squad should be very competitive this season.
