Saints 4 Newcastle 0.

The Saints started this match at a high tempo with great movement on and off the ball. The first goal came after 20 minutes when Rob Snedden sent in a deep cross from a free kick out left which was headed in by Kevin Jones at the far post. Newcastle’s main threat was coming from their goalie with big kicks out of hand for their strikers to run on to but they were dealt with comfortably by Mike Havard and the outstanding Stu Davies. Hays second goal came after a Newcastle corner was headed away to safety and picked up by the dangerous Snedden who passed for Jones to beat the Newcastle keeper with ease. HT 2-0.

The Saints continued to dominate the second half with Garry Kebble winning nearly every tackle in the centre of midfield. Snedz got the third goal after playing a one two with the impressive Phil Davies and drilling the ball low into the left hand corner. It was left to substitute Gav Williams to get the fourth after Jones played a lovely through ball for him to finish off the nights scoring and the Saints best team performance in several weeks.

This was a great team performance from 1 to 14. My man of the match goes to Stu Davies who won everything on the night.
