Rob McNamara was our scorer.

Saints manager Tom Weaver thought we matched the Uni for most of the game, “We didn’t take our chances when we had them, where as they were very clinical in front of goal”.

In the first half we went 2-0 down, Gareth Jenkins then hit the post and the ball rolled across the goal line but nobody could get on the end of before it was cleared. We also had two or three other decent chances during the first period but failed to take them, the Uni players were well organised and played some neat football. Disaster struck on 40 minutes when talisman Chris Preece limped off with a hamstring injury, Preece was replaced by Steve Jones.

In the second half Rob McNamara scored a good goal from near the penalty spot to make it 2-1, Jack Biggs went close with a header and the keeper made a good save to keep the home side ahead. The Uni extended the lead shortly after then added two more goals to run out 5-1 winners and progress to the next round.
