Hay St Mary’s 5 Barmouth and Dyffryn United FC 0.
For the first time this season we were up against it in the first 25 minutes, the visitors put us under a lot of pressure which our defence handled very well, Tom Lewis did have to make one very good save which he tipped onto the post before it was cleared to safety.
Once we settled the game became more even and we started to look dangerous going forward, in the 42nd minute striker Jack Biggs turned in the box and fired across the keeper to put us 1-0 up. Three minutes later we won a corner and from Brendan Hacketts cross Biggs doubled the lead with a well placed glancing header into the corner of the net. Ht 2-0
The visitors were rattled from this and indiscipline kicked in, in the 52nd minute Josh Davies made it 3-0 from another corner. In the 63rd minute Kevin Jones cut in from the right and shot but the keeper pulled off a good save however, Davies was the first to react and fired in from close range to make it 4-0.
Barmouth and Dyffryn had a player sent off in the 7oth minute for foul and abusive language to the referee and to be honest there could of been one or two more as their frustrations took hold.
Chris Preece came off the bench and nearly scored with a diving header which the keeper saved but it wasn’t to be outdone just minutes later Hackett whipped in a ball from the right and Preece sent a thumping header into the back of the net to seal the win. Ft 5-0
A great result and performance all round in front of our biggest crowd of the season, 108 people i’m told.
Many thanks to our sponsors who came to the game, our guests for the day and match day sponsor Dai Arrowsmith who couldn’t decide on one man of the match so he chose two in Jack Biggs and Jake Atkinson who both had great game.
Thanks to Fil Wisniewski for the match day programmes.
