The Saints beat Abermule FC 4-1 this afternoon at Forest Road.
Goalscorers were Kevin Jones, Phil Davies, Brendan Hackett and Matt James.
Once again we started well and had two good chances in the opening five minutes but a wayward shot and a good save from the visitors keeper kept it at 0-0, after the opening ten minutes we became sloppy and for the first time this season we were niggling at each other.
We had other chances but resolute defending by Muler kept us out and in the 18th minute a route one ball was pounced on and the visitors went 0-1 up.
Abermule held the lead for 16 minutes, in the 34th minute striker Kevin Jones out muscled two defenders and shot across the keeper into the far right corner from 16 yards to make it 1-1.
In the 39th minute a good move saw Rob McNamara send a cross into the area to winger Phil Davies who volleyed it in whilst in a horizontal position to put us 2-1 up.
Ht 2-1.
We took control of the second half after a couple of half scares early on, midfielder Brendan Hackett put us 3-1 up when he reacted quickest to a block and cleverly headed the ball past the keeper who was lay on the floor.
We were in control for the rest of he game and it was Matt James who had another good game in the green and white who had the final say smashing the ball home from an acute angle to make the final score 4-1.
Ft 4-1.
Another three points for Jenko’s men, not the best we have played all season but Abermule are strong in defence and are led well by captain Warren Sherwood and it took us time to break them down but we got there in the end. I thought the James brothers had very good games today along with both Davies’.
