Sunday Saints Win 12 Goal Thriller.

The Sunday Saints came away from Athletico Ledbury FC yesterday after winning a twelve goal thriller 5-7.

Match report to follow.

The Sunday saints traveled to Ledbury Town this morning for a tricky away fixture against Atletico Ledbury FC.

The Saints started well but went 0-1 down against the run of play after a goal mouth scramble, a close shot was fired past Hay keeper Tom Bevan. Hay hit straight back with some great build up play, Harry Gilbert played an inch perfect ball through the middle for Craig Forsyth to score with a cute finish past the advancing keeper to equalize.

The Saints continued to work hard for each other,this paid off when Forsyth beat a couple of defenders, he then rounded the keeper to score his second of the match.

Forsyth then became provider for his strike partner Nathan Heighway, feeding the ball through for Nathan Heighway to strike the ball hard and low from an acute angle his shot went under the diving keeper for.

Once again Forsyth sent over a 30 yard pass to Andrew Gilbert who brought it under control before slotting the ball home to make it 4-1,this was Gilberts first goal of the season. Hay’s work rate through out the match was the best it’s been all season but their discipline was poor on times which Ledbury took advantage of and scored from a free kick.

The Saints hit back straight away from a corner, Keiran Cheverton finishing coolly from close range which mad e the score 5-2 at half time.

Ledbury came out the blocks with all gins firing at the beginning of the second half and fired in three goals in the first twenty minutes to leave the game on a knife edge at 5-5.

After being so positive all game the Saints heads went down before captain Matt Pugh rallied his troops and told them to up to up the ante.

This they did and Forsyth claimed his hat-rick with a rebounded shot falling into his path which he slotted in from close range. Hay finished off proceedings in style when Forsyth was brought down for a penalty. With penalty taker Forsyth injured from the challenge the call of duty was left to Joe Emmitt who made no mistake by stroking the bal to the left side of the keeper,

Ledbury were awarded a penalty very late on but keeper Tom Bevan a great save. Ft 5-7.

A fantastic win for the Saints and a great all round performance from the entire team.
