Saints Win Derby.

The Saints won 16-1 this afternoon against a battling Talgarth Town FC.

Goal scorers were Jack Biggs(3), Rob McNamara(3), Steve Goodwin(3), Matt James(2), Brendan Hackett(2), Tom James(1), Adi Lawford(1) and Josh Davies(1).

The Talgarth scorer was Luke Arrowsmith.

The visitors could of took the lead in the third minute when Tom Pavey broke the offside trap, the Talgarth striker shot from the edge of the area but Tom Lewis made a good save down to his left.  Unfortunately this was as good as it good for Talgarth because we dominated from this point on.

Rob McNamara scored a quick fire hat-trick, his second the pick of the bunch, he turned a visiting defender and fired a shot into the top corner from the edge of the area. A goal each for Jack Biggs and Josh Davies plus a long range Steve Goodwin special made the half-time score 6-0.

Manager Gareth Jenkins brought on current player of the year Adam Finn early in the seond half, the defender has struggled with on going knee problems this season so it was good to see him back out on the pitch.

The goals continued to flow throughout the second half, striker Matt James netted twice as did Brendan Hackett, Biggs got a well deserved hat-trick as did Goodwin, all from 20 yards plus, former Talgarth player Adi Lawford scored a deflected goal as the Saints piled the pressure on.

Talgarth scored a consolation goal through sub Luke Arrowsmith with the score at 15-0, however, within a minute Tom James scored a well deserved goal, the full back had caused problem all afternoon with his overlapping runs.

Ft 16-1.

The Gaffer was pleased with the performance more than the score, he felt everyone really put a shift in working tirelessly all game.

I think Talgarth as a club deserve credit for fielding two sides under a difficult period. They have a new manager lined up for next season and still determined to field two sides in 2015/2016. Although we looked dominant all over the pitch yesterday I thought youngster Ben Sharman had a very good game for them, he rolled his sleeves up and battled until the end.

Team –

Tom Lewis, Tom James, Jordan Baker, Josh Davies(Adam Finn), Stu Davies(c), Chris Preece(Adi Lawford), Jack Biggs, Brendan Hackett, Matt James, Rob McNamara(Kevin Jones) Steve Goodwin.
